Ms. Lovejoy
My
name is Alison Lovejoy. Welcome to my occupational therapy webpage. I
am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for the
district. As a COTA, I work collaboratively with Karen Ouellette,
Occupational Therapist at South School. This is my tenth year working
at South School. I began working for the Londonderry School District in
2000. I have worked at Matthew Thornton, North School and Londonderry
High School providing occupational therapy services to students. I
received a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from American
University 1982 and completed my Associates Degree in science for
occupational therapy in 1999. I am a certified yoga teacher for adults
and children which expands my knowledge of techniques to facilitate motor
planning, regulation and attention with students receiving occupational
therapy. Each students' job in school is to grow and learn to the best
of their innate abilities. Occupational Therapy helps students learn
about their specific learning style and to learn strategies to increase
their success in all areas of their life. In general, the role of an
occupational therapist in the school system is to help students'
experience a ready to learn mental and physical state so they may learn
with ease. A team approach is used when deciding how a student will be
serviced by an OT based on evaluation results from various disciplines
as well as input from teachers and parents. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or you may call me at 432-6956 X 5125.
