step up day letter 2018

                                                                                       June 20, 2018

Dear Families,

Hello! Welcome to second grade! I am so excited to meet my new class, and I look forward to many good times together.

I feel strongly that you know your child best, and I appreciate any feedback or suggestions that you feel will help me provide the best environment possible for him/her. If there is an issue at home, no matter how big or small, that you would like to share with me, please do not ever hesitate to call or email me. I do prefer email, and I check it multiple times per day. I will also check it all summer long. You can email me at  If you do email me, and you do not hear back from me within 24 hours, please re-send it or call me, as occasionally emails do not come through for one reason or another.

If you are interested in being a classroom volunteer, please email me. I love having a parent come in once a week to do copying for me. This can only be done during the students’ special time, which is from 1:10-2:00. I may need volunteers for other things as the year progresses. If you will be available to come in on a regular basis, please let me know.

Your child will be prepared for 2nd grade if s/he brings in the following items:

  • 1 pencil box
  • 1 pair of headphones (for iReady) packed in a freezer bag labeled with your child’s name
  • 2 Expo markers (please do not send in generic dry erase markers due to the strong odor- we have no windows in our classroom.) Thank you!!!!

We always welcome donations of tissues, paper towels, and baby wipes.

Thank you in advance for your help with keeping unnecessary materials and toys at home.

Please check my webpage for information and educational links. I have some excellent practice sites on my webpage. Go to  Click on “In the Classroom”, then 2nd grade, then Jodi Daron.

If you have any questions, please email or call me. I am always happy to hear from you. I hope you have a wonderful summer.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Very Sincerely,

Jodi Daron
