Welcome to our 5th grade class!!
I am excited for a great year with our fifth grade learners!
Some exciting things about fifth grade include flexible seating, new opportunities for clubs and activities, passion projects, and new and exciting science and social studies topics!
I am always open to communicating with families to provide the best learning atmosphere possible for your child. Please don't hesitate to contact me. The best method of contact is through e-mail; through which we can also set up a phone call and/or meeting.
As the year goes on, I will be updating the website with useful links, homework and pictures.
Supply List for 2018-2019
Each learner should have:
- 1 homework binder (this should fit comfortably in your learner's backpack 1"-1.5" is fine)
- 1 Pencil Pouch that can be clipped into your learner's binder
- 4-6 #2 pencils (at all times)
(if mechanical pencils are preferred, please carry extra lead)
-1-2 Dry erase markers
- 1 pair of headphones that can be kept at school - Please LABEL the headphones with your learner's name and homeroom as they may need to travel with them to math, social studies or technology classes. If your learner prefers ear buds, please put these in a labeled small bag or box
*If purchasing these items is a burden financially please let me know.
The following items are not required but are welcomed as a donation to our classroom supplies as they will dwindle over the course of the year:
- Colored pencils, markers and crayons
-Glue Sticks
-Fine point black markers, black flair pens, or Uni-ball pens for outlining
- Extra pencils
- Expo markers
Water & Snack: Learners will all have a snack around 11 am. They may also have a small snack at the end of the day, especially if they have after school activities or a long bus ride home.
I also encourage every learner to bring a water bottle, no matter the season. These will go home every day to be cleaned and filled.
Summer tips for getting off to a great start!
- Read, read, talk about reading, and then read some more!
We will read and confer for half an hour every day! You can start building up this stamina over the summer!
- Go on iReady - learner's accounts will be open until August 17th! This is a great way to keep on top of what you were learning in fourth grade, and try some fifth grade activities!
- Explore and ask questions! We learn by questioning! Summer is a great time to go out, explore and ask questions about things as close as our own backyard!
- Have fun and stay active!
